University of Massachusetts Office of the President seeks part-time intern to work with the communications team

The University of Massachusetts Office of the President is seeking a part-time intern to work with its communications team. This position will be a key part of the department’s daily activities, assisting with development of university marketing materials and managing the university’s social media channels. It is an ideal opportunity to gain valuable experience in external relations and communications.

In addition, the intern will help with the creation of social media content and will provide research assignments. While working on these projects, the intern will also have the chance to develop an understanding of emerging external relations practices.

Interested candidates should possess strong writing, research, and interpersonal skills. They should also be able to work well in a team environment. A sense of humor is strongly encouraged. An expert level of knowledge in Word and PowerPoint is required. Candidates with a passion for government and a drive to serve are encouraged to apply.

Candidates must be at least a current undergraduate or graduate student. They must have a commitment to public service and have an interest in marketing, journalism, or public relations. If applicable, they must have experience in college recruiting or career advising.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to gain a deep understanding of the UMass system and the state legislature. The communications team is responsible for marketing campaigns and protecting the integrity of the UMass brand. Through the development of multimedia content, the department generates positive media coverage and supports the university’s strategic initiatives.

Candidates are expected to contribute up to 20 hours a week. Some of the duties include: conducting research and compiling background material, drafting copy for a variety of formats, and developing content for the university’s social media channels. Additionally, the intern will be required to perform general research, participate in a number of final round interviews, and take initiative on assigned projects.

Interns are not provided with living accommodations and may not receive outside funding. However, they will be paid a pre-tax rate of $15 an hour. One of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences of my college days was relocating to a new city. With a new city comes a new set of sights, sounds and smells to be sure. Not to mention a new set of friends and a new job to boot. Fortunately for me, it didn’t take long to make the move. Getting a new job and a new home is a major win, and it is one that I will never forget. The benefits of moving on are immeasurable and if you have the right network of friends, you don’t have to worry about a tame tycoon. Having the right network of friends is like having an ally in your pocket, if you have the right network of friends you don’t have to worry about tycoons. Luckily for me, my amiable friends had the right network of friends. The best part of the experience was having a new friend and a new home in the same metropolis. That is the biggest and best reward of all. Unlikely but true.

Isabel Holden’s favorite aspect of her a&f internship was the people she met

If you are a fashion design buff you probably already know Isabel Holden, a Marist College sophomore. Having interned at MILLY and Abercrombie & Fitch last summer, she has some valuable industry insights to share. Here are some of her favorites.

There is more to an internship than just a paycheck and a ton of free stuff. You will also have the opportunity to network with textile mills from around the world. This will give you an opportunity to learn about the finer points of the denim world and you may even find yourself on the cutting edge of fashion. The best part is the experience is both educational and enjoyable.

One of the best things about this a&f experience is the people. You will be surrounded by some of the greatest minds in the business. These folks will not only be the first people you meet, but they will also be the ones you end up with. So, if you are looking to improve your game and your sanity, you better get ready to say hi to these gents. After all, they will be the ones you call upon when life hits the fan.

Another a&f standout is the company’s e-commerce department. Its online store is the e-commerce king, and one of its best customers is Abercrombie & Fitch, a name you probably already recognize. Not only do they offer discounts on their products, but they also offer a nifty reward system that pays you for your loyalty. And while the reward program is not for the faint of heart, if you know what to do and when to do it, you are guaranteed to make a few bucks in the process. Hopefully you are a good sport and you get the goods.
